Development of “High-resolution Sensor Bearing with an index signal”

[First time in the industry! Enabling to detect a rotational reference position by providing an original point position signal output function in addition to high precision]

NTN Corporation (hereafter NTN) jointly with SNR (France) has improved the conventional “Bearings with high-resolution rotary sensor”*1 and developed “High-resolution Sensor Bearing with an index signal”, enabling to output original point position signals (Phase Z).

NTN was offering “Bearing with rotary sensor” in which bearing and rotary sensor were unitized in the product line*2 as a product supporting control of industrial machinery such as rotary control of electric AC motors.

The newly developed “High-resolution Sensor Bearing with an index signal” uses SNR’s compact sized IC sensor (6mm×7mm). This enables to enhance the rotation detection capability by maximum of 40 times and to output original point position signals by processing detection signals from more than one magnetic sensor placed in the IC sensor. By providing the original point position signal output function, position detection of motor rotary shaft and steering operation in addition to the conventional detection of number of revolutions and rotational direction is possible.

Moreover, since electric cables for electric power and signal output are eliminated and connector connection is adopted, installation into equipment at customers is dramatically improved.

As a first step, NTN will commercialize and market units outputting two phase signals (Phase A and B) and original point position signal (Phase Z) of max. 2,560 pulse per revolution with 6206 deep groove ball bearing (30mm bore and 62mm outside diameter). NTN will develop it mainly for servomotor and forklift steering applications and market globally.
