Development of ‘High Speed Response Hydraulic Auto Tensioner’ for Passenger Cars

NTN Corporation (hereafter NTN) has developed a ‘High Speed response type hydraulic auto tensioner’, which properly adjusts tension of timing belt for cars and contributes to improving quietness and belt life, and started the production.
Along to progress of high function and high reliability of cars, demands for automotive parts with higher function and longer life are getting higher. Hydraulic auto tensioner maintains belt tension constant by the work of hydraulic dumper which is actuated through opening and closing of check valve provided in hydraulic circuit, and contributes to improvement of quietness and life of belt. Check valve requires to repeat opening and closing at very high speed for a long period of time, to meet higher function, higher speed and longer life of engine. Accordingly check valve requires higher response and wear resistance.
NTN improved high speed response of check valve significantly by applying ceramic ball to check valve and attained the stable tension adjustment function over a long period by reducing valve wear greatly.
NTN will introduce this product to the market globally amid mounting demands to higher reliability and longer life for automotive parts.
