Development of Word smallest, Ultra Small- Ultra Light Weight ‘Compact Free Type TORQUE DIODE’
[Attaining an automatic changeover unit of electric⇔manual for small type precision equipment ]
In 2002, NTN announced a free type TORQUE DIODE (TDF) as a reverse-input prevention unit, which has a function that when input shaft is driven, output shaft can rotate, but when output shaft is driven, only output shaft rotate freely and driving force is not transmitted to input shaft. NTN has been marketing this unit primarily for automatic changeover system of electric and manual for electric motor protection and rotational equipment. Recently market requires lighter weight and further downsizing for this unit amid drastic progress of downsizing and weight reduction of equipments.
In response to this market requirement, NTN has developed ‘Compact free type TORQUE DIODE’ , which is ultra small in size (1/3 of conventional product), ultra light in weight (2/5 of conventional product) and low torque (1/25 of conventional product) for light load applications; small type equipments such as camera, and started supplying prototype samples to customers.
NTN will expand the market of this unit for light load applications such as automatic changeover mechanisms of electric and manual of equipments to which conventional type TORQUE DIODE were unable to integrate due to their space limitaton.
