BOSAI Industry Fair in Sendai

NTN will run a booth at “BOSAI Industry Fair in Sendai.”
The booth will feature exhibits of Vertical axis wind turbine, Horizontal axis wind turbine and Micro hydro turbine that use “Bellsion blade*1,”.
The “Bellsion blade” helps to generate lift power without letting air escape, and is a highly efficient*2 structure that is effective not only the blade begins to rotate at low wind speed, but also avoids minimal slowdown when it reaches a set speed. Turbulence around the blade is also reduced when it is rotating, which means there is almost no noise generated when the blades move through the air.
The vertical axis and horizontal axis wind turbines will be exhibited as dynamic models to show how power is generated from slight breezes from a fan installed nearby.
We look forward to seeing you at the event.

*1)  Unique and original blade shape of cut section, winglets with tips canted at a certain angle. The name Bellsion is derived from the archaic meaning of "version" (turn or change of direction) to suggest the blades which bends the end of the wing inward and our policy of pursuing new ideas.
*2)  The vertical axis Bellsion wind turbine achieved a power coefficient of approximately 0.35 in the index that represents power generation efficiency.

Main features of exhibits

Vertical axis wind turbine

  • Larger blade area
  • No need for wind direction control
  • Winglets that retain wind
Vertical axis wind turbine

Horizontal axis wind turbine

  • Inversely tapered type blades with larger area
  • Winglets that retain wind
  • Rudder and Down-wind type that responds instantly to changes in wind direction
Horizontal axis wind turbine

Micro hydro turbine

  • Original blade section based on wind turbines
  • Inversely tapered type blades with larger area
  • Winglets that retain water
