NTN Exhibits at “Auto China 2014”April 15, 2014Events

Date April 20 (Sun) to 29 (Tue), 2014
Venue China International Exhibition Center (New Hall), Beijing, China
NTN Booth W2-W01

Auto China 2014

NTN will run a booth at “Auto China 2014” with the theme “NTN technologies for a low carbon society.”
The NTN booth will feature exhibits of next-generation EV system products and module products in line with electrification, as well as a large range of products that contribute to a lower impact on the environment.
The “Q'mo” demonstration vehicle equipped with NTN's EV systems will demonstrate “Pivot turn” and “Lateral move” driving. A lottery system will also be held to allow visitors to ride on the vehicle and experience its unique movement first-hand.
We look forward to seeing you at the event.

Main exhibits

In-wheel Motor System Concept “Q'mo”

A two-seater, four-wheel electric commuter concept model that combines the steering system featuring the compact wheel-turning actuator developed by NTN, with the In-wheel Motor System for electric commuters.

Intelligent In-wheel

An EV system product combining the world lightest In-wheel Motor System combining a cycloid speed reducer and hub bearing to the motor, with an electric brake and multi-axis load sensor. Information from the multi-axis load sensors are used for coordinated control of the in-wheel motor and electronic brake for optimum circuit control and vehicle stability control, to improve fuel efficiency and safety performance. The in-wheel motor mounts the drive system directly to the wheel for more effective use of space and greater degree of freedom in vehicle design.

Super Low Friction Hub Bearing

The use of a newly developed low friction grease drastically reduces grease stirring resistance during rotation. Minute dimples have been implemented into the seal lip (edge of seals made of rubber) sliding surface and a specially developed low-viscosity grease is applied to reduce the wear resistance of seal contact areas. Rotational friction of bearing was reduced by 33% (compared to the conventional product) and fuel efficiency improved by approximately 0.28%.

High Performance Lightweight Hub Joint

Hub joint that uses a proprietary press connect method for a lightweight design and no backlash in spline joints. The bolt connection structure between the CVJ and 3rd generation hub bearing makes assembly possible on the vehicle production line.

Mechanical Clutch Unit (MCU) for Next-generation Steering

Compact steer-by-wire clutch product that combines an electromagnetic clutch and roller clutch. A high load capacity design ensures a high level of reliability when the mechanical link is active.

Hollow Ball Screw Unit

A thin and lightweight module product designed for CVT and the electrification of various other actuators. The use of a ball screw with minimal rolling resistance helps to reduce drive force and electrical force losses due to pulley operation. The hollow screw shaft can be positioned along the same shaft as the pulley shaft to make CVTs more compact in size

Ball Screw Drive Module for Electric Hydraulic Brake

Compact drive module product that combines support bearings and sintered materials for a high load capacity ball screws. It converts rotational motion of the motor accurately to linear motion, with more accurate control of brake force providing a greater amount of driving energy, contributing to a longer driving range.
